The SiC Processing GmbH is a company which semiconductor industry incurred to the reprocessing, in the photovoltaic and, sawing suspension specializes. The company is based in Hirschau .
Procedure
In the photovoltaic industry and in the semiconductor industry, so-called slurry is used to cut pure silicon into wafers . Slurry is a suspension of silicon carbide and polyethylene glycol , which has both an abrasive and cooling effect.
With the wet mechanical process used by SiC Processing, the slurry contaminated and worn out by the sawing process can be recycled through the use of hydrocyclones. With silicon carbide, recovery rates of 75 to 90 percent and polyethylene glycol of 90 to 95 percent are achieved.
The process can be repeated as often as required after sawing again.
history
The historical origin of the SiC group lies in the group of companies of AKW Apparate + Verfahren Holding GmbH und Co. KG, which has been active in process engineering and plant construction for mineral processing for more than 40 years.
As early as 1999, the process developed together with a business partner was tested on an industrial scale in a pilot plant in Novara .
In 2000, SiC Processing (Deutschland) GmbH was founded in Bautzen, which set up its first plant in 2001. As early as 2004, the facility in Bautzen had to be expanded by a new line.
In 2005 subsidiary companies were founded in the USA, China and Norway.
In 2006 the first plants were put into operation in the USA, China and Norway and the plant in Germany was expanded.
Bankruptcy proceedings
On December 18, 2012, SiC Processing GmbH applied for the opening of insolvency proceedings in accordance with Section 270b of the Insolvency Code. The Amberg District Court granted the application on December 20, 2012.
