Sian Christina MacLeod OBE (born May 31, 1962 ) is a British diplomat . She is married and has three children.

Life

From 1985 to 1987 Sian MacLeod was with the British Council as a consultant for South Africa in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office . She learned Russian and was legation councilor at the embassy in Moscow from 1988 to 1992 . She then headed the Russia Department in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and subsequently became a permanent representative at the Embassy in Vilnius. From 1993 she headed the arms control department in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and then the personnel department there.

She took over the management of the political department of the embassy in The Hague in 1996 and led it until 2000 when she became deputy head of the political counter-terrorism department. After a secondment to the government cabinet in 2002, she was promoted to embassy counselor in Moscow in 2004, where she was then deputy head of the embassy as envoy from 2005 to 2007. She has been an ambassador in Prague since 2009 .

Orders and decorations

In 2002 she was named Officer of the Order of the British Empire .
