Sibby Flowers

Sibby Flowers (* 1963 in Carrollton , Georgia as Sibby Harris ) is a former American weightlifter .

Life

Sibby Flowers grew up in Carrollton. She was athletic and did gymnastics and athletics in high school . When weightlifting became popular for women in the mid-1980s , she devoted herself to the sport, went to Savannah and trained with trainer John Coffee. At the first world championships for women in Daytona Beach , she won a bronze medal in the all-around competition in the class up to 44 kg body weight. In the following years she started very successfully at the World Championships. But she was not granted a title win.

Sibby Flowers worked as a trainer after her active sports career and currently lives in Knoxville.

  • 1992, 3rd place , World Championships in Varna , up to 44 kg body weight, with 140 kg;
  • 1993, 5th place , World Championships in Melbourne , up to 46 kg body weight, with 145 kg, winner: Chu Nan-Mei , Taiwan , 152.5 kg ahead of Yu Shin-Fen, Taiwan, 147.5 kg;
  • 1994, 7th place , World Championships in Istanbul , up to 46 kg body weight, with 150 kg, winner: Yun Yanhong, China, 180 kg ahead of Kunjarani Devi, 167.5 kg;
  • 1995, 7th place , World Championships in Guangzhou , up to 46 kg KG, with 147.5 kg
