action

The young emotional Lucy lives with her fiancé Chris. She has given up another job, this time as a dental assistant, because she actually wants to be a writer. Chris, who is thinking of marriage and is a rational workaholic, is not happy about this. By chance, her friend Alice got an acting engagement, so Lucy can take over her job as a babysitter.

The mother of the child Dr. Gordon explains to Lucy that her son has an illness and that she lives on the lower floor of the luxurious property. She hands her a baby monitor and gives her the order not to enter the lower rooms. If something unusual happens, Lucy should give her a call. So your job would only be to be there. She receives four hundred dollars for this. During the conversation, Dr. Gordon got a call from her husband. She continues the conversation in the next room. Lucy can overhear the conversation fragmentarily. The mother is very desperate on the phone and seems to want to hide something. During the night, Lucy explores the luxurious property. In the study she discovers a series of pictures on the PC from the Gordons' family vacation in Venezuela in which everyone - including the son - is healthy. Lucy is afraid of infection and takes gloves and face mask from her old job out of the car and, driven by curiosity, goes to the forbidden floor. The son's door is locked with a padlock. She does not receive an answer to her calls. When she peeked under the gap, she thought she saw a glow. Their concern that something is wrong with the family is responded to by their friends with reference to the extremely good pay.

On the following day, she goes back to work. Nobody is home this time. The key to the house and a short instruction are available for you. Nothing happens for a long time, but then loud screams come from the baby monitor. Lucy calls Dr. Gordon, she says she'll be back immediately. Lucy goes back to the basement - but she can see nothing except sounds from the room. In the process, she loses her engagement ring, an old heirloom. Suddenly the child's father appears, who appears to be seriously ill and looks disfigured. He tells Lucy to leave the house. During her escape, she briefly meets Dr. Gordon, who thanks them for the service.

The next day, Lucy and Chris go to the Gordons' house because no one answers their calls. They want to find the lost ring. Lucy decides to enter the house with the key she still has. The father lies in the foyer with a gunshot wound in the head. A trail of blood leads to the son's room. They break open the door and find a child who is tied to the bed and who also looks disfigured. Chris just wants to call the police and flee, but Lucy forces him to untie the child and carry it upstairs. The boy bites Chris in the neck and wants to kill Lucy too. In battle, she manages to kill the undead with a knife stab in the head. After they have called the police and Lucy has been able to stabilize Chris, they are attacked by the also now undead mother. Lucy can win this fight too. When the police arrive, Chris has passed away. Suddenly he comes back to life and attacks the policeman. It seems that the bite transmits a pathogen that turns people into monsters after death.

criticism

The audience received the film mostly negatively. The reviews were mixed. The independent character was often praised by actors and camera work.

“Conclusion: What starts out quite randomly and slightly below average turns into a really exciting genre film, the finale of which can definitely be described as great. The weak first half of course depresses the overall rating a bit, but if you want to see a rather surprising horror film that not only relies on shock but also on some atmosphere, Sick Boy is well served, even if it does not always succeed completely. The low budget prevents 'bigger leaps', but it is clear that director Tim T. Cunningham knows his stuff. "

Others, like the majority of the audience, completely rejected film.

“With the long character introduction, the film looks like a bad German production, somehow not at all American, not necessarily in terms of optics either. That certainly doesn't make the film good, because the action quickly drags on and could easily be a new film by Marcel Walz, where an independent director tries to show a very serious and professional, adapted production in TV style. That goes really bad ... "
