Sidell is a settlement in Sidell Township , Vermilion County , Illinois , USA. It is part of the Metropolitan Statistical Area of Danville , Illinois. The population was 617 at the 2010 census.
history
Both the town and the parish of Sidell are named after John Sidell, who came to the area from Ohio in 1861 and bought 12 square kilometers of land on the banks of the Little Vermilion River . In 1888, in addition to agriculture, the city had three main industries: tile, brick, and ice.
