The Siebenhengste-Hohgant-Höhle is a large karst cave system in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .

The cave system lies in the area of ​​the municipalities of Eriz , Beatenberg and Habkern in the Bernese Oberland . It is located in the karst area of ​​the same name north of Interlaken . The cave system consists of various interconnected caves (Faustloch, A2, F1, K2) and is the second longest cave in Switzerland after the Hölloch in the Muotatal . The measured length of the Siebenhengste-Hohgant-Höhle is over 157 km (2019). The vertical extension is 1340 m.

Current research

At the moment, the cave explorers are looking for a connection to the deeper Bärenschacht . If this were successful, the cave system would grow by one stroke by 62 km, making it the longest cave in Switzerland and even Europe.
