history
In earlier years there was an important road to Eger ( Cheb ) on the south side , as evidenced by a granite column with postal symbols. The mountain is named after seven linden trees that once provided shade for travelers and horses at the post office.
After the end of the Holy Roman Empire , the western part of the Kohlwald belonged to the Kingdom of Bavaria (also called the Siebenlindengebirge there), which is why the Sieben-Linden-Berg is often incorrectly referred to as the highest mountain in the Kohlwald in older publications .
