Siegfried Facius
Siegfried Facius (born March 13, 1915 in Berlin ; † November 27, 1968 ) was a table tennis player in the GDR.
After the Second World War Facius was one of the best players in the GDR. He played for the Leipzig-Connewitz club until 1948, when he moved to Leipzig-Reudnitz. In 1948 he won the championship of Saxony. In the GDR championship held for the first time in Dresden in 1949, he was GDR individual champion. In doubles with Heinz Haupt , he made it to the final. In the 1949/50 season he was with the club BSG Erich Zeigner Leipzig , from which the 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig later emerged, GDR team champion.
Facius later worked as a trainer at Motor Ostend Berlin. In 1954 he returned to Leipzig to unity Leipzig .
Facius has a daughter.
