Siegfried Pichler

Siegfried Pichler (born August 21, 1952 in Saalfelden ) was President of the Salzburg Chamber of Labor , Vice President of the Federal Chamber of Labor and Regional Chairman of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions (ÖGB) Salzburg.

Life

Siegfried Pichler is married and has two grown children.

Career

Siegfried Pichler worked for nine years in the private sector in the commercial sector. A three-year apprenticeship in the grocery trade was followed by five years as a commercial clerk. After six months as an insurance salesman , the then state secretary of the private employees' union (GPA), Othmar Raus , brought him to the GPA in Salzburg. After Raus' move to the state government, Pichler took over the management of the GPA Salzburg in 1984. Under his leadership, the Salzburg GPA did not lose as many members as the rest of the union in the 1990s.

From July 1, 2003 to March 23, 2018 Siegfried Pichler was President of the Salzburg Chamber of Labor and from 2004 to 2017 Chairman of the ÖGB Salzburg. On September 16, 2009, he was elected Vice President of the Federal Chamber of Labor .

In 2004, Siegfried Pichler, as the top candidate of the FSG parliamentary group, received 67.44 percent of the votes in the Chamber of Labor elections and was able to increase the second-third majority in 2009 to 67.92 percent. In 2014, Pichler was confirmed with 69.46 percent.

On March 23, 2018, Siegfried Pichler retired after almost 15 years at the helm of the Chamber of Labor. Peter Eder was elected as his successor as AK President that day .

More functions

Siegfried Pichler's career as an official began at the age of 15. Inspired by his father, who was then the ÖGB district secretary in Zell am See , he founded a youth group for trade union youth in Saalfelden and was also involved in the young generation of the SPÖ (JG) in Pinzgau . For a long time he was a member of the presidium of the Salzburg union youth, then switched to the Salzburg Chamber of Labor and was initially active as a social democratic chamber councilor, later as vice-president. He was also a member of the Salzburg state parliament in 1989/90 . From 2009 to 2013 Siegfried Pichler was also chairman of the supervisory board of GSWB (Gemeinnützige Salzburger Wohnbaugesellschaft).
