Siegfried Punt

Siegfried Punt (born February 26, 1881 on Gut Mittelfaulbrück, Reichenbach district , † October 5, 1960 in Göttingen ) was a German rear admiral .

Life

Siegfried Punt was born in Silesia . At the beginning of 1899 he joined the Prussian Navy as a midshipman and received his basic training on the training ship Moltke . A short time later he was promoted to ensign at sea . After several on-board missions, he was promoted to lieutenant at sea in April 1902. He then served on various ships as a watch officer and artillery officer, including on the Fürst Bismarck .

On January 27, 1916 he was promoted to corvette captain. After the First World War , Punt was awarded the Iron Cross, Second Class, in 1918 . After the sailors' uprising in Kiel , he took over the interrogation of the revolutionaries. He became commander of the ship artillery school in Kiel and in this position in early 1921 a frigate captain . On November 30, 1928, he was promoted to Rear Admiral on his retirement .

On May 23, 1939, at that time living in Geismar , he was returned to the Navy from retirement . During the Second World War he was first employed in Norway as a representative of the Kongsberg arms factory , later as chief shipyard director of the navy shipyard in Bordeaux and finally came to the Führerreserve . He was finally retired on January 31, 1943.

Siegfried Punt was married and the father of five children.
