Siegfried Ratzlaff (born February 14, 1934 in Vangerow , Köslin district , Pomerania ) is a German painter , graphic artist and university professor. He significantly developed the decelith stitch technique as a supplement to wood engraving .

Life

After finishing high school in Arnstadt from 1949 to 1953, Siegfried Ratzlaff began studying art education at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig in 1953 . An artistic degree took place in the subject of plastic; artistic teachers were Elisabeth Voigt , Hans Schulze , Heinz Olbrich, Kurt Biegholdt . From 1957 to 1959 Siegfried Ratzlaff worked as an art teacher at the Extended Oberschule Dr. Martin Luther , Eisleben . 1959 Start of teaching (artistic practice of painting / graphics) at Karl Marx University. This was followed by external studies at the Dresden University of Fine Arts with Lea Grundig from 1961 to 1963 .

After being appointed lecturer for fine arts in the art education department in 1970, Siegfried Ratzlaff was appointed professor in 1978 to teach painting and graphics at the Cultural and Art Studies section of the Karl Marx University in Leipzig. Until he left in 1993 (early retirement), Siegfried Ratzlaff was head of the fine arts department at the Institute for Art Education at the University of Leipzig .

Siegfried Ratzlaff is married, lives and works in Leipzig .

Study trips took him to the Soviet Union (1967 Kiev , 1974 Kazan / Rostow), Czechoslovakia (1975 Olomouc , Prague , Bratislava ), Bulgaria (1977, 1979, 1981, 1983, 1987), to Denmark (1992), London (1997 and 1998), Provence (2001) and Scotland (2003).

Siegfried Ratzlaff was a member of the Association of Visual Artists of the GDR from 1963 to 1990 and from 1998 to 2002 Deputy Chairman of the Association of Visual Artists Leipzig (BBKL).
