Hans Schulze (artist)

Hans Karl Rudolf Schulze (born March 30, 1904 in Dittersbach , Lower Silesia , † September 7, 1982 in Leipzig ) was a German painter , graphic artist , art teacher and university professor.

Life

Hans Schulze studied art education at the State Academy for Arts and Crafts in Breslau from 1923 to 1929 . He was employed as a lecturer in art education in 1948 at the Pedagogical Faculty of the Dresden University of Technology . In 1950 he was appointed to the Institute for Practical Pedagogy at the University of Leipzig . A year later he was appointed head of the art education department and began building up the art education department. In 1952 he founded the Institute for Art Education (today Institute for Art Education Leipzig ) and received his doctorate in 1955. phil. in art education. After his retirement in 1969, he continued teaching at the University of Leipzig until 1982.

Hans Schulze was an important artist in Central Germany. His work is an expression of intellectual independence and closed itself to the dictates of contemporary art movements. His independent position in dealing with existential questions is expressed in a mythological formal language.

Schulze particularly influenced art educators, artists and art historians in Leipzig.
