Siegfried Scholtyssek

Siegfried Scholtyssek (born January 31, 1924 in Guben Province of Brandenburg , † June 22, 2005 in Stuttgart ) was an agricultural scientist, animal breeder and poultry breeding scientist.

biography

After the Second World War, Scholtyssek studied agriculture at the University of Kiel, where he did his doctorate. agr. After a short activity in experimental farms , in 1956 he became Professor Kirsch's scientific assistant at the Institute for Animal Breeding Studies at the Hohenheim Agricultural University and, after completing his habilitation, was appointed professor for small animal breeding in 1965.

During his time in Hohenheim he devoted himself in particular to research in the fields of poultry farming and egg and poultry meat quality. In addition, he made behavioral research in poultry an essential part of research on small animals. Scholtyssek has made a special contribution to the German group of the WPSA (World's Poultry Science Association) and from 1980 to 1998 as editor of the “Archive for Poultry Science”. He has published over 100 publications, numerous conference papers and textbooks.
