Sieglinde (chicken)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sieglinde (* 2015 ; † June 2017 ) was a chicken that attracted media attention as the "TV chicken".

history

Sieglinde had been trained to be TV-compatible by an animal trainer. The chicken was then, among other things, in Wendy - The film and in the television film We Are Sisters .

In June 2017 Sieglinde, who was on her owner's farm, was bitten to death by a dog running freely. The owner offered ten euros in damages . Sieglinde's owner went to court and sued for 4,000 euros in damages because Sieglinde was trained in filming and other offers were already available. High three-digit sums are common per day of shooting. If you are only two years old, you can expect even more offers.

The district court set the value of the chicken at 615 euros: 15 euros for the chicken plus 600 euros for training with ten hours at 60 euros each. In addition, it was decided that the owner was complicit because she had let the chicken roam freely in the yard. Therefore, the owner was awarded half of the value, i.e. 307.50 euros.

The proceedings went to the next instance before the Kleve Regional Court. In its judgment of January 17, 2020, the district court found that the chicken killed was in fact Sieglinde and not another chicken; The other side had asserted this doubt. The owner's complicity has been eliminated, so she has now been awarded the full value of 615 euros. The requested compensation of 4,000 euros was rejected as not appropriate. A revision was not allowed.
