The former IBS AG is a provider of software and services for quality and production management in industrial companies ( CAQ software, LIMS software and MES software ) and has been part of Siemens Industry Software GmbH based in Cologne since June 2015.

The customers are from the automotive industry and in the sectors automotive suppliers , electronics , mechanical engineering , chemical , steel , medical , food industry , pharmaceutical , packaging , consumer , branded , renewable energy and other technical industries.

The seat is in Höhr-Grenzhausen near Koblenz . There is also a branch in Shanghai and subsidiaries in Neu-Anspach im Taunus and Boston ( USA ).

In 1982 the engineer Klaus Jürgen Schröder founded IBS Ingenieurbüro Schröder GmbH in Höhr-Grenzhausen. The company was initially only active in German-speaking countries. The offer consisted of computer -assisted industrial automation , process control , data acquisition and documentation of manufacturing data. The international expansion began in the mid-1980s with a major order from what was then Schmalbach Lubeca AG in Braunschweig .

After implementing a productivity management system in the Neuwied-Weißenthurm plant, IBS received the order to adapt the system for the international production plants in Great Britain , France and Poland . At the beginning of the 1990s, the number of IBS employees grew to 30. During the same period, IBS branches were opened in Stuttgart and Nuremberg. With the establishment of subsidiaries in England and Lithuania , the international orientation finally began at the end of the 1980s.

As part of the company's further expansion, the number of employees increased to 60 in 1996. The headquarters were again enlarged; In 1999 the new building was occupied. When it went public in 2000, IBS GmbH changed its name to a stock corporation . At the same time as the IPO, IBS America Inc. was founded in Boston in 2000 . In 2001, Quality Systems International Inc. , Lexington (Massachusetts) , was taken over by IBS America Inc. In 2008, IBS AG invested heavily in its own research and development projects in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor .

Siemens AG has been the majority shareholder in IBS AG since 2012 and the former IBS AG has belonged to Siemens Industry Software GmbH in Cologne since June 2015.
