Hannoverland (Type 116a)

The type 116 , colloquially also called Estejumbo , is a multi-purpose container ship type from the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde .

history

The series was ordered by two Hamburg shipping companies in the early 1980s and manufactured in three units from 1983 to 1985, two of which belonged to the sub-type 116a. The three ships were mostly used on various multipurpose, container and project cargo services. They were later also found in the worldwide trampoline trip .

technology

The ships of the series had deckhouses arranged aft with machinery below. The two electrohydraulic cranes attached to the port side were able to lift 35 tons each on the type ship Dorothee . 80 ton cranes were used in the two subsequent buildings, which were given the type designation 116a. They could be operated coupled, which allowed heavy lift and project loads of up to 160 tons to be taken over. The three cargo spaces with a grain volume of 17,405 m³ (Type 116) or 17,300 m³ (Type 116) were for the transport of containers equipped and dangerous containers and with cell guides adapted. Due to the shape of the holds, the ships could also be used in bulk goods, cellulose or parcel wood transport. The tank ceiling was reinforced for stowage of heavy cargo. Hydraulically operated folding hatch covers reinforced with heavy cargo were used. The Dorothee could stow up to 804  20-foot standard containers (TEU), the capacities of the Hannoverland and the Weserland were at a maximum of 856 TEU.

The ships were propelled by eight-cylinder four-stroke diesel engines . A MAK 8M601AK engine was installed at Dorothee , while Hannoverland and Weserland received a Deutz SBV8M640. The berthing and casting off maneuvers were supported by a bow thruster .

The ice-reinforced hulls were assembled in a sectional construction. The type ship had a total length of 146.25 m, the two ships of the sub-type 116a were 148.55 m long.
