The type 167 is a type of bulk carrier from the Sietas shipyard in Hamburg-Neuenfelde .
history
The series was produced from 2001 to 2005 in three units, the hull of Sandnes as hull number 1044 from the Mangalia Shipyard in Romania was delivered. The ships are used in the northern European trampoline trip with stones.
The Rocknes marine casualty
The second ship of the type was laid up in the shipyard on May 4, 2000 after completion and was only delivered as Kvitnes in August 2001 . From November 2002 to March 2003, the ship at the Keppel-Verolme shipyard in Rotterdam was extensively converted into the world's largest rock faller for offshore downpipes and renamed Rocknes .
On January 19, 2004, the Rocknes capsized on a voyage from Eikefet to Emden after a grounding near Vätlestraumen. 18 of the 30 crew members were killed and around 227.5 tons of heavy heating oil leaked. The ship was later lifted, repaired in Poland and rebuilt in some points and finally put into service again at the end of June 2005 under the name Nordnes .
technology
The seven cargo holds with a volume of 20,046 m³ and a reinforced tank ceiling are set up for the transport of stones of various types. The ships were equipped with self-extinguishing systems from MacGregor.
The ships in the series are powered by a MaK 8 M 43 diesel engine that acts on a controllable pitch propeller , while the docking and casting off maneuvers are supported by a bow thruster .
The hulls were assembled in sectional construction.
