Siegfried "Sigi" Heinrich (born June 21, 1953 in Wolfratshausen ) is a German editor and sports reporter .

Life

Sigi Heinrich completed a sports degree at the Technical University of Munich . He is a former sports teacher, gymnast and volleyball coach. For eight years he worked as an editor at the Süddeutsche Zeitung and in 1989 switched to the newly founded broadcaster Eurosport , where he is one of the main commentators specializing in athletics , gymnastics , biathlon , alpine skiing , figure skating , diving and volleyball ; He also reports on the opening and closing events at the Olympic Games.

Since 1993 Heinrich has been commenting on all athletics broadcasts on the station together with Dirk Thiele . The duo was nominated for the first time in 2001 for the German Television Award (“Best Sports Broadcast of the Year”) and was awarded this award in 2008. In addition, in 2005 there was a nomination for the Grimme Prize (“Special” competition).

In 2006 the International Biathlon Union presented Sigi Heinrich with the "Biathlon Award". In July 2014 Heinrich received the Bavarian Sports Prize in the category “Outstanding Presentation of Sports”.
