Sigismund Calles

Sigismund Calles (born March 12, 1696 in Aggsbach , Lower Austria , † January 3, 1767 in Vienna ) was an Austrian Jesuit and historian.

biography

Sigismund Calles joined the Society of Jesus in 1711 . At the grammar schools in Klagenfurt and Leoben he worked as a teacher for Greek and Latin. From 1737 to 1746 he was a professor of history at the University of Vienna . With his Annales Austriae he presented one of the first scientific treatises on the history of Austria.
