Sigmund Hermann (born May 17, 1959 in Schaan ; † November 10, 2014 in Triesen ) was a cyclist from Liechtenstein .

Life

Sigmund Hermann was a professional cyclist from 1981 to 1991. His greatest successes were on the track . In 1984 he and his brother Roman became vice European champion in two-man team driving and Swiss champion in this discipline. For this achievement, the Hermanns were voted Liechtenstein's team of the year in 1984. He also contested 55 six-day races , some of them with his brother. In 1986 the two athletes won the six-day races in Cologne and Madrid . In 1987 he became the Liechtenstein road race champion .

He competed eight times in the Tour de Suisse , but without any notable successes. He only finished the tour twice, the 68th place in 1986 was his best result. He contested his last race in November 1990 when he drove the six-day race in Zurich .

In 2002 Hermann suffered a stroke and has had health problems ever since. He died on November 10, 2014 at the age of 55 after a cardiac arrest.

Sigmund is the brother of Roman Hermann and Peter Hermann , both of whom were also active as cyclists.
