Sigrid Engelbrecht

Sigrid Engelbrecht (* 1954 ) is a German author , painter and designer who also worked as a local politician for over 25 years .

Life

Sigrid Engelbrecht first studied German , journalism and economics in Berlin and later also textile design in Münchberg (Bavaria). After graduating as a designer, she worked for various companies in the textile industry, at the same time completed a distance learning course (advertising graphics) and set up her own graphic studio in Bayreuth in 1990. From 1988 to 2014 she exhibited various works in the field of graphics and painting in Germany, France, Austria and the Czech Republic, in Germany often accompanied by readings from her lyric texts.

From 1986 to 1994 she was a member of the Upper Franconian District Assembly as District Councilor for Alliance 90 / The Greens ; from 1990 to 2010 she was a city councilor in Bayreuth , from 1991 to 2009 also parliamentary group leader. At party level, she worked in various functions between 1986 and 2005: acting member of the federal executive board, member of the state party council in Bavaria, chairwoman of the federal working group on women's politics, board member of the local political association Gribs (Greens and alternative in the councils of Bavaria).

She was awarded the Bavarian Communal Merit Medal , the Golden Citizen Medal of the City of Bayreuth and the Golden Ring of Honor of the City of Bayreuth for her local political work .

In the years between 2002 and 2008, Sigrid Engelbrecht changed the focus of her work.

After completing her training as a mental and wellness trainer from 2002-2004 (at Conzendo, Hamburg and the Institute for Sport and Tourism, Düsseldorf) and as a mental coach in 2008 (NLP & Coaching Institute, Berlin), she began to work as a trainer and coach in adult education . Focus: coping with stress, personal development, mood and self management.

In connection with this, Sigrid Engelbrecht has made a name for herself as the author of guides on these focal points. Her best-known book was published by Gräfe und Unzer and is entitled "Let go of what is in the way of your happiness" and was published in 2009 under the title "Loslaten wat je niet gelukkig maakt" and. a. also translated into Dutch. The 9th edition is currently on sale.

Sigrid Engelbrecht has lived in Berlin since 2010. From 2012 to 2015, she completed the course "Biographical and Creative Writing" at the Alice Salomon University in Berlin-Hellersdorf, completing her degree with the title "Master of Arts (MA)".
