Sigrid Herrmann-Marschall (born January 14, 1964 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German blogger . She runs a watch blog with a focus on Islamism.

job

Herrmann-Marshal operates since 2012 the Watchblog "Forward, without forgetting" who, after a line of text from the solidarity song by Bertolt Brecht is named. The objects of investigation are Salafist and Islamist organizations and actors. In this context she advises local politicians and gives public lectures. After starting with analyzes from the Rhine-Main area, she is now active nationwide. The public appearance began with an awareness-raising and protest campaign in 2012, the resistance against the Koran distribution campaigns of the group around Ibrahim Abou-Nagie .

She was one of the critics of Mohamed Matar from the Neukölln Meeting Center (NBS) at a commemorative event for the attack on Breitscheidplatz in Berlin . She criticizes the inclusion of the NBS in integration projects for refugees. By looking at the register of associations, she found out that there are connections between the Islamic Center Hamburg and Hesse.

Despite a lawsuit from Islamic Relief , she can claim "that the aid organization Islamic Relief Germany (IRD) and also the parent organization from Great Britain would participate in the financing of Hamas, among other things." Herrmann-Marschall's research on a German member of the board of Islamic Relief Worldwide was taken up by the London Times in August 2020 ; as a result, the entire board resigned.

Herrmann-Marschall is a qualified biologist. She is a member of the SPD and worked as a local politician (member of the board, previously sub-district spokesperson for environmental protection, sub-district secretary ) in Offenbach . Herrmann-Marschall has lived and worked in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2019.

criticism

In 2016, she was called a right-wing populist by the Frankfurt Jusos for allegedly stirring up fear of alleged Islamization , or defamed as a Holocaust relativist. The Jusos withdrew this accusation and apologized for it.

In 2016, Herrmann-Marschall informed the Hessian security authorities that two Muslim employees of the Frankfurt Violence Prevention Network (VPN) were themselves in contact with the extremist scene. After this information, the two employees were questioned in January 2017, who distanced themselves from extremist ideas. When a report from the Hessischer Rundfunk ( hr-iNFO ) caused a stir nationwide, they were provisionally suspended by an immediate measure on February 21, 2017. All employees of the Hessian VPN advice center had to undergo another security check. The Hessian Ministry of the Interior had initiated the "thorough security check" of the VPN employees and announced in March 2017 that both employees had been relieved. At that time, Herrmann-Marschall described herself on her website as an “independent sect and Islamism expert”, the Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote in this context “the boundaries between expertise and activism are fluid”. Lamya Kaddor also noted that Herrmann-Marschall possessed at best lay knowledge about Islam and condemned people as supporters of Islamist currents without verifiable evidence. Herrmann-Marschall called this accusation "undifferentiated".

The journalist and author Yassin Musharbash rejected some of Herrmann-Marschall's criticism of his work.
