The trio started in 1976, when keyboard player Axel Breit and singer Martin Tychsen traveled through northern Germany and took first place in a young talent competition. Breit founded a company that builds lighting and sound systems, thus ensuring constant contact with the music scene in the university town of Göttingen . This broke off contact between himself and Tychsen.

Axel Bendung later began to write songs (including for Wencke Myhre , Marlene Ricci and Isabel Varell ) and met Bernd Dietrich, who later became the publisher and co-producer of Silent Circle. Dietrich introduced him to the then popular tour and studio drummer CC Behrens. The two performed a few joint appearances, then moved to King's Bishop, a band that achieved national success in the early 1980s with a mixture of classic rock and jazz rock . After this formation broke up , Breit sent a demo under the pseudonym Axel B. and got a record deal . The hammer was the name of the single, which was released as an NDW title at the end of 1983 .

The band's debut single was Hide Away - Man Is Comin '! . With the successor single Touch in the Night they achieved their breakthrough, Stop the Rain and Love Is Just a Word were other successful tracks from their debut album No. 1 . The single Moonlight Affair from the album was only released in Spain.

In the 1990s the success waned and the group could not build on earlier successes. Today the band mostly plays at city festivals.

The current members are: Martin Tychsen (vocals), Harald Schäfer (keyboards) and CC Behrens (drums).
