Silke Birgitta Gahleitner

Silke Birgitta Gahleitner (born June 14, 1966 in Mannheim ) is a German social worker, social work scientist and psychotherapist. She works as a professor for clinical psychology and social work, counseling and therapy at the Alice Salomon University in Berlin .

Career

Gahleitner studied social work at the Alice Salomon University in Berlin and completed his doctorate in clinical psychology at the Free University of Berlin in 2004 and habilitated in educational sciences at the TU Dresden in 2015 . She worked in her own practice as a consultant and psychotherapist as well as in a social therapeutic facility for traumatized girls. In 2005 she was appointed professor at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences in Ludwigshafen , and since 2006 she has taught clinical psychology and social work with a focus on psychotherapy and counseling at the Alice Salomon University. Her work and research focus are psychosocial diagnostics and intervention, youth welfare, qualitative research methods , gender and psychotraumatology. She is the head of the Master’s program “Clinical Social Work”. From 2012 to 2015 Gahleitner held a professorship for integrative therapy and psychosocial interventions at the Danube University Krems (DUK) in the department for psychotherapy and biopsychosocial health and headed the research project "Prevention and intervention in human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation". From 2019 to 2021 she will lead the research project " Testimony - Sexual violence and traumatic experiences in GDR homes from the perspective of those affected and medical actors", a joint project of the University of Leipzig , the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and the Medical School Berlin .

Silke Birgitta Gahleitner was on the board of the German Society for Social Work (DGSA) and is the spokesperson for the "Clinical Social Work" section of the DGSA. In addition to her university activities, she is involved in trauma education and counseling and at several institutes for child and adolescent psychotherapy.
