Silvano Tranquilli

Silvano Tranquilli (born August 23, 1925 in Rome , Italy ; † May 10, 1997 ibid.) Was an Italian actor on stage, film and television.

Live and act

Immediately after the Second World War, Tranquilli received his acting training at the Accademia Sharoff in his hometown Rome and then joined the theater companies of Salvo Randone and Vittorio Gassman . In 1955 he made his film debut, and in 1959 Tranquilli stood in front of a television camera for the first time. In the following four decades, the attractive Roman was given an abundance of supporting roles in films of the most varied genres, in the early phase of his career also in two horror cult films by directors Riccardo Freda ( The Terrible Secret of Dr. Hichcock ) and Antonio Margheriti ( Danza Macabra), in which he participated under the pseudonym Montgomery Glenn.

In the following years he did not remain particularly connected to any genre - Tranquilli even appeared in a few soft sex films from the 1970s - but had particular success with police and crime films. Tranquilli was also seen in social dramas, spaghetti westerns and again horror films, less often in comedies. Tranquilli got his greatest role from German television, of all places , when he was offered the leading role of the institute director Louis Palm in the ZDF science fiction series Das Blaue Palais in the mid-1970s . Tranquilli's preferred role subject were representatives of the upper middle class; so one saw him again and again as an academic and police inspector.
