Silvija Erdelji

Silvija Erdelji ( Serbian - Cyrillic Силвија Ердељи ; born May 28, 1979 in Senta ) is a former Yugoslav and now Serbian table tennis player . She won bronze in singles and doubles at the 2003 European Championships . Until 2004 it started under the flag of Yugoslavia, then under the flag of Serbia and Montenegro and since 2006 only under the flag of Serbia.

Career

Silvija Erdelji achieved her first international success in 1996 when she won the European Youth Championship in mixed together with the Greek Panagiotis Gionis .

In the adult sector, she took part in seven world championships from 1997 to 2006 , but never came close to medal ranks. In 2003 she started in Courmayeur at the European Championships . She was third in both singles and doubles with her sister Ana-Maria Erdelji .

In 2004 Silvija Erdelji qualified for participation in the individual competition of the Olympic Games in Athens. Here she defeated the Tunisian Nesrine Ben Kahia and then retired after losing to Jing Jun Hong (Singapore).

Together with Ana-Maria Erdelji, she won the double competition at the Mediterranean Games in 2005. After 2006 she stopped appearing at international tournaments.

In October 2003, she achieved her best ranking of 62 in the ITTF world rankings .
