career

Club career

In 2001, Spann became the first player in his country to move to Italy and signed with AC Perugia . After half a year he was loaned to SS Sambenedettese Calcio to collect match practice at the club playing in Serie C. Since he was not given a work permit for England in the summer of 2002, a move to the Premier League , where several clubs had shown interest, failed. So he returned to his homeland and played for W Connection . At the end of the 2003/04 season, Spann had a brief stint at Dinamo Zagreb . He had signed a four-year contract there without the club knowing that he had a contract with W Connection. When they asked for a transfer fee, Dinamo withdrew its offer. After Spann was voted "Most Valuable Player" in the national championship, he received an offer from Yokohama FC . In January 2005 he signed a three-year contract. However, he decided to end his contract after only one season in December of that year. After a move to Sheffield Wednesday in the spring of 2006 due to a knee injury, Spann was without a club for a long time. From November 2006 to August 2007 he returned to W Connection, then played for eight months at Wrexham AFC and has since returned to W Connection.

National team

Spann played in various youth selections for Trinidad and Tobago. He was the team captain of the U20 selection, but was removed from the squad shortly before the CONCACAF U20 championship to make way for more robust players who were able to fight more than one another. In July 2002 he made his debut for Trinidad and Tobago in the national team . Leo Beenhakker nominated him for the 2006 World Cup , but he was unable to participate in the tournament due to a hamstring injury that he sustained in preparation and was replaced by Evans Wise .

Others

He is the son of Leroy Spann , himself a former international player for Trinidad and Tobago. This was temporarily his trainer at W Connection.
