Silvius Dornier

Silvius Dornier (born April 12, 1927 in Friedrichshafen ) is a German entrepreneur and publisher.

He is the third son of Claude Dornier , studied aeronautical engineering like his father and was also a member of the board of the father's Dornier-Werke . After the majority takeover of Dornier in 1985 by Daimler-Benz , he remained a partner in the Dornier works with around 22%. In 2002 he sold these shares and exchanged them for Daimler-Chrysler shares.

The graduate engineer became known as managing director of the Dornier-Werke in Friedrichshafen and as a publisher and owner of the Dornier publishing group , from which he retired on the occasion of his 80th birthday in 2006.

Silvius Dornier lives in Friedrichshafen and is the initiator and one of the founders of the Dornier Museum in Friedrichshafen. In aviation, he is still involved with various companies and affiliated companies.

In 1996 he founded the deceased by his wife and he named Esther and Silvius Dornier Foundation , which has set itself the goal of gifted girls and boys attending selected boarding schools, namely the Schule Schloss Salem , the state high school St. Afra , the country Pforta , the Birklehof school and the Solling boarding school .

1999, named after him, Silvius Dornier GmbH and Co. KG bought the Schlossgut Gross Schwansee in Kalkhorster district Gross Schwansee (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) in direct location on the Baltic. Dornier had the classicistic building renovated and set up a luxury hotel in it.
