history

The place name Simmringen is derived from a personal name: Sumer, Summeringen, d. H. Place of a sumar.

In 1243 the Münchsteinach Monastery (Neustadt / Aisch) sold all of its property in Sumeringen , with the exception of the owners, to Gottfried von Hohenlohe . In 1279 the place was bequeathed to the Schäftersheim monastery by Willeburg, Kraft's widow von Hohenlohe, but it could not hold it. The Hohenlohe people sold the village to the Schöntal monastery in 1295 , with which it remained until secularization. The place, located on the old trade route Frankfurt – Nuremberg, was a profitable customs and escort and belonged to the Zent Bütthard . In 1803 he came to Württemberg and from then on belonged to the Oberamt Mergentheim . It could just as well have come to Bavaria, of course, but Napoleon had chosen the King of Württemberg.

Because Simmringen was such a lucrative customs post, the Büttharders actually didn't want to give it up and are even said to have threatened the start of a "small" war (their troops were already ready) before the King of Württemberg announced the ghost with a small detachment of troops Ended.

Ecclesiastically Simmringen originally belonged to Gaurettersheim (Diocese of Würzburg). In 1818 it was repared to Bernsfelden, in 1828 parish curate and in 1835 its own parish and since then has been the northernmost parish of the Diocese of Rottenburg / Stuttgart.

On January 1, 1972, Simmringen was incorporated into Igersheim.
