Simon Allanson (born January 2, 1985 in Leeds ) is a former British biathlete .

Simon Allanson, like almost all British biathletes, serves in the British Armed Forces. The Lance-Bombardier (roughly comparable to the corporal ) starts for the 40 Regiment Royal Artillery and is trained by Jason Sklenar . He has been biathlon since 2001 and has been a member of the British national team since 2004. He contested his first international race in 2004 as part of the junior European Biathlon Cup. In 2005 he achieved his best results as third in the sprint and second in the pursuit of Gurnigel , but very few starters took part in this European Cup, only three runners competed in the pursuit. At the European Junior Championships 2006 in Langdorf Allanson reached 63rd place in the individual and 64th place in the sprint.

Allanson's first international race in the senior category was a sprint in Martell in 2006 as part of the Biathlon European Cup , in which the Englishman was 47th. In Gurnigel he came 19th in the pursuit in a again not particularly well-filled European Cup for the first time under the top ten. The biathlon world cup debut followed in 2007 in Oberhof . Allanson finished 102nd in the sprint. The Briton achieved comparatively good results as 49th in the sprint and 40th in the pursuit at the Biathlon European Championships 2007 in Bansko . The 2008 Biathlon World Championships in Östersund were his first world title fights. Allanson came 101st in the sprint and 97th in the individual. With the British season he was 23. Also in 2009 Allason took part in the world championships . He finished 94th in the individual and 92nd in the sprint, his best result so far in the World Cup. Allanson won five national titles and was runner-up four times and third twice. In 2011 he resigned from competitive sports.
