Simon Beer (born October 11, 1964 in Zurich ) is a concept artist (installation, mixed media, performance).

Life

From 1980 to 1984 Simon Beer completed an apprenticeship as a machine mechanic, after which he attended the cantonal maturity school for adults (Zurich) . From 1988 to 1992 he was an art student at the F + F School for Experimental Design in Zurich , which he completed with Gerhard Johann Lischka.

In 1990 he began exhibiting with solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad, as well as installations in public spaces. The most important ones took place in the Espace d'Art Contemporain Paris (EDAC), the Kunsthalle Winterthur , in 1999 in the Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum Aachen and in the Städtisches Museum Abteiberg Mönchengladbach .

He received various grants, including a grant for fine arts from the city of Zurich in 1993 with a studio stay in Paris and in the same year a studio grant from the Canton of Zurich for Paris. In 1999 he received a year of work from the Steo Foundation, Küssnacht and in 2003 a year of work from the UBS Cultural Foundation. Since 2004 he has been running an agency for integrated communication and art in Zurich with the art historian Esther Maria Jungo. To this day, Simon Beer's most active period in terms of his work and reception lies in the 1990s to the early 2000s.

The artist lives and works in Zurich and Bordeaux.
