Simon Clark (born April 20, 1958 in Doncaster , England ) is a British horror writer .

Life

His first short stories appeared in British fanzines such as the semi-professional magazine Back Brain Recluse , which also published its first short story volume Blood and Grit in 1990 . When Clark was able to sell two novel manuscripts to a publisher in 1994 ( Hodder Headline , now part of WHSmith ) and found a literary agent, he decided to become a freelance writer (previously he had various jobs, including as a script writer in advertising and an office worker). After seven novels published in Great Britain, there was also a publisher for the US market ( Leisure Books , specializing in horror).

Clark is best known for his series of vampyrrhic novels (the first part of which was published in German by Wurdack-Verlag ), for his continuation of the classic The Triffids (by John Wyndham ) and for his work on the television series Doctor Who .

In 2002 he received the British Fantasy Award in both the Best Novel and Best Short Story categories ; his novel Humpty's Bones won this award in 2011.
