Simon John Elliott (born June 10, 1974 in Wellington ) is a former New Zealand soccer player who was last active for the US club CD Chivas USA . He also played for the New Zealand national team .

Club career

As a student, Elliott played at Stanford University and moved to the US second division club Boston Bulldogs in 1999 . He played for four years before he signed to Los Angeles Galaxy signed. During his time in Boston, he completed 126 games and scored 19 goals. In Los Angeles Elliott played 26 times until 2006, in the summer of 2006 he went to England for the London club Fulham , where he played 12 times in the country's top division until 2008.

From 2009 to 2010 he played again in Major League Soccer with the San José Earthquakes , before he signed a short-term contract with A-League participant Wellington Phoenix in November 2010 . In 2011 he left his home in New Zealand and returned to the USA, where he joined CD Chivas USA . He played his last game as a professional on October 3, 2011, against the Philadelphia Union .

National team

With the New Zealand national team, the midfielder won the 2002 OFC Nations Cup in the final against Australia . He also took part in the Confederations Cup in 2003 and 2009 and was part of the New Zealand Olympic squad in 2008. At the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, he was used in all three group games of the All-Whites . His last international match was the 3-0 defeat in the friendly against Mexico on June 2, 2011.
