Simon Lilly
Simon John Lilly FRS (born January 1, 1959 in London ) is a British-Canadian astrophysicist .
Lilly received her PhD in 1984 from the University of Edinburgh under Malcolm Longair with a thesis on radio galaxies . From 1990 to 2000 he was a professor at the University of Toronto . He was then General Director of the Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics , and in 2002 he was appointed to the ETH Zurich , where he was Dean of the Department of Physics from 2015 to 2017.
In 2014 Lilly became a Fellow of the Royal Society and in 2017 he was awarded the Herschel Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society .
He is married to the Italian astrophysicist Marcella Carollo .
