Simon Meier-Vieracker

Simon Meier-Vieracker (* 1980 in Basel as Simon Meier ) is a Swiss linguist with a research focus on corpus , discourse and media linguistics . He has been Professor of Applied Linguistics at the Technical University of Dresden since 2020 .

Life

Meier-Vieracker studied communication science and philosophy at the University of Duisburg-Essen and the University of Florence . After completing his studies, he worked as a research assistant at the Institute for German Studies at the University of Bern , where he received his doctorate in 2012 . Subsequently, he worked as a research assistant at the Department of General Linguistics at the Technical University of Berlin , before taking on the position of professor for applied linguistics at the Dresden Institute for German Studies in October 2017 . He was appointed to its owner in February 2020.
