Simon Mrashani

Simon Mrashani ( Simon Mrashani Basiligitwa ; born April 18, 1964 ) is a retired Tanzanian marathon runner .

In 1991 he won the Lake Biwa Marathon with his personal best of 2:11:34 h, but did not finish at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo . At the 1995 Pan-African Games in Harare, he won bronze.

In 1998 he finished sixth at the Vienna City Marathon and won silver at the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur behind Thabiso Paul Moqhali from Lesotho and ahead of his compatriot Andea Geway Suja .

In 2003 he started in the Singapore Marathon , but only came in 18th.

Like Suja, he is an employee of the Moshi Police School . His sister Banuelia Katesigwa was also successful as a marathon runner.
