Simone Farina (born April 18, 1982 in Rome ) is a former Italian football player who was used in the position of full-back.

Career

Farina came from the youth department of AS Roma . In the 2001-2002 season he was in the squad of Catania Calcio in Serie C1 , but only played two games for the Sicilians. In 2002 he was transferred to the club AS Cittadella , for which he was irregular for two seasons in the C1 series. In 2004 he moved to AS Gualdo Calcio in Serie C2 . After 56 games in two seasons, he left the club and was active in the 2006-2007 season in the same league for Celano FC Marsica . Since 2007 he played for AS Gubbio 1910 . With the club he got two promotions, so that Gubbio could compete in the 2011–2012 season in Serie B. Farina ended his career in the summer of 2012.

National team

Farina was called up three times in 1998 for the Italian U-15 national team, for which he played two games.

In 2011, in the wake of a betting scandal in Italy, it became known that Farina refused the offer to manipulate a game of his team and receive € 200,000 for it - more than double his annual salary. Instead, the soccer player filed a complaint. As an award for his courage, Farina received an invitation from Cesare Prandelli to train with the national team.
