Simone Thomaschinski

Simone Heike Thomaschinski (born April 4, 1970 in Frankfurt am Main ; after marriage to Gräßer, later Zimmermann) is a former German hockey player and Olympic participant.

Simone Thomaschinski started her career at Eintracht Frankfurt . After winning the German indoor championship in 1985 and 1987 as a youth, she won the field hockey championship with Eintracht in 1991 . Then she moved to RTHC Bayer Leverkusen .

In 1988 Simone Thomaschinski won the European Junior Championship, in 1989 she was Junior World Champion. In 1990 the defender made her debut in the German national hockey team . She reached eighth place with the German team at the 1990 World Cup and second place at the 1991 European Championship . At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona Thomaschinski was present in all five games and won the silver medal after losing 2-1 to Spain.

For this she and the German Olympic team received the Silver Laurel Leaf on June 23, 1993.

This was followed by fourth place at the 1994 World Cup and bronze at the 1995 European Championship . In their second Olympic participation in Atlanta in 1996 , the German team finished sixth. After a baby break, she returned to the German team as Simone Gräßer in 1999 and won the silver medal at the 1999 European Championships . After finishing seventh at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , she ended her international career. Overall, Simone Thomaschinski played 184 international matches from 1990 to 2000.
