Simone Verovio
Simone Verovio (* around 1555 in s'Hertogenbosch ; † December 17, 1607 in Rome ) was a Dutch composer , calligrapher , engraver , publisher and editor .
Life
He settled in Rome by 1575 at the latest. In 1586 he introduced copperplate engraving into music notation ; a technique that has survived until the very recent past. Among other things, he published Luzzasco Luzzaschi's Madrigali (1601) and Claudio Merulo's Toccate d'intavolatura (1598, 1604).
