The Simvo (also Simvu ) is a mountain in the Himalayas in the north-western part of the Indian state of Sikkim .
The Simvo is a multi-peaked glaciated mountain. The 6,812 m high main summit is 9.5 km east-southeast of the eight-thousander Kangchenjunga . The 5861 m high Zemu Gap mountain pass separates the Simvo from the eastern ridge of the Kangchenjunga massif.
The west summit ( 6811 m ⊙ ) and the east summit ( 6671 m ⊙ ) , which are almost the same height, rise about one kilometer from the main summit . The two secondary peaks Simvo Nord ( 6587 m ⊙ ) and Simvo Nordost ( 6540 m ⊙ ) are just under three kilometers north . On the north-west flank of the Simvo, the Upper Zemu Glacier flows in a north-easterly direction. In the west lies the Umaram Glacier and beyond it the 6887 m high Siniolchu rises . The southern Simvo glacier extends on the southern flank of the Simvo .
Ascent history
The Simvo was first climbed in 1979 (or 1978).
In the Himalayan Index, the year of the first ascent of the northern summit of Simvo is given as 1936. A German mountaineering group ( Paul Bauer , Adolf Göttner , Karl Wien and Günther Hep ) is mentioned in this context.
