Franz Wilhelm (dancer)

Franz Wilhelm (born April 14, 1945 in Bílina ( Bohemia ); † June 12, 2015 in Langental, municipality of Großwarasdorf ) was an Austrian ballet dancer . From 1972 he was the first solo dancer at the Vienna State Opera .

Life

From 1956 Wilhelm completed his training as a dancer at the State Opera, in 1960 he became a member of the Vienna State Opera Ballet and in 1988 he retired. He then moved to a farm in Vallunga and became a passionate falconer .

In 1986 he received the Golden Decoration of Honor for Services to the Republic of Austria and in 2010 he was awarded the professional title of Professor .

Wilhelm was married to Sabine Wilhelm (* 1961), born Holubar and also a state opera dancer, and had a total of four children.
