The Singakademie Frankfurt (Oder) was founded again in 1975 and is one of the outstanding artistic associations in the city of Frankfurt (Oder) . Its roots go back to 1815, when a choir association called the “Singegesellschaft in Frankfurt ad Oder” was founded, which was renamed the “ Singakademie ” in 1870 and existed until February 1945.

From May 1945 to 1974 the tradition of this singing academy lived on in the Frankfurt (Oder) People's Choir, which, dissolved in 1975, was accepted with its membership in the newly revived Frankfurt (Oder) Singing Academy, which continued the choir work, soon supplemented by children and boys - and sparrow choir. In addition, a chamber choir and a vocal quartet developed over the years .

The home of the Singakademie is the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach concert hall in Frankfurt (Oder) , a former Franciscan church from the 13th century.

The choirs of the Singakademie are very well known in the region and organize a large number of concerts in and around Frankfurt (Oder) as well as in neighboring Poland . The Singakademie has already made guest appearances in the Berlin Philharmonic , the Berlin Konzerthaus , the Bremen Cathedral and St. Peter's Basilica in Rome . The choirs of the Singakademie Frankfurt (Oder) have won various prizes in national and international competitions. The criticism characterized the great choir of the Singakademie Frankfurt (Oder) as the "choral flagship of the state of Brandenburg ". The choir works with renowned ensembles such as the Szczecin Mieczysław Karłowicz - Philharmonie , the Pomeranian State Philharmonic Bydgoszcz , the Chamber Orchestra Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and the Brandenburg State Orchestra together. In 1998 the Singakademie Frankfurt (Oder) was awarded the Zelter badge .

In addition to concert tours to Berlin , Bremen , Heilbronn , Stettin , Budapest , Milan , Rome , Thessaloniki and the Baltic States, the Great Choir of the Singakademie is part of the music festival on the Oder , the "East-West" music festival in Zielona Góra (Grünberg ) and the music festival in Bydgoszcz (Bromberg) a popular guest.

In 1997 the Great Choir of the Singakademie produced two demanding choral works on CD: Antonín Dvořák's  " Mass in D major ", op. 86 and Seven Choirs for the " Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom ", op. 41 by Peter Tschaikowsky .

The director of the choir association and artistic director has been the conductor Rudolf Tiersch since 1986 .

The boys' choir of the Singakademie was founded in 1981 by the current conductor Jürgen Hintze. Travels have taken the choir to Russia, France, Belarus, Lithuania, Spain, USA, England, Finland and Italy, among others. The choir can also refer to some CD productions.
