The Singer 9 is a small car that Singer built from 1932 to 1937 and from 1939 to 1951. The 9 sedan presented in 1932 was the successor to the 8 Junior , the first model with an OHC engine.

The car has a four-cylinder in - line engine with a capacity of 972 cm³ and an overhead camshaft. The engine is ventilated by two Solex carburetors and has an output of 31 bhp (22.8 kW). The top speed of the classic sedan is 96 km / h.

In 1936 the Singer Bantam replaced the 9 sedan, which, however, continued to be built in parallel until 1937. The Bantam was slightly shorter than the 9 and had the same engine, but only one SU carburetor.

9 Sports and 9 Le Mans

In 1933 a two-seater roadster appeared , the 9 Sports model , which achieved 35 bhp (26 kW) power and a top speed of 102 km / h with the same engine. In the same year this model was discontinued and replaced in 1935 by the 9 Le Mans , which achieved 38 bhp (28 kW) and 117 km / h. Two SU carburettors now supplied the engine. The Singer 1½ liter Le Mans with a six-cylinder engine was also offered in the same body .

Nine roadster

In 1939 a two-seater sports car of the type nine appeared again , which was equipped with the larger engine of the last Bantam. Although only equipped with an SU carburetor, the machine achieved 35 bhp (26 kW) in the sports car. In 1949 the vehicle was replaced by the Nine 4A / 4AB , whose engine was a little more powerful (36 bhp / 26.5 kW). The sports tourer reached a top speed of 104 km / h and was replaced by the larger Singer SM 1500 Roadster / Tourer in 1951 .
