Sint Janskerke is a farming community in the municipality of Veere in the Dutch province of Zeeland . It is located between Meliskerke and Zoutelande on Walcheren .

Sint Janskerke was parished off as an independent parish around 1235 by St. Willibrord in Westkapelle. The Liebfrauen Abbey in Middelburg had the right of patronage over the church consecrated to St. John. In addition, the abbey had a labor yard in the village.

As early as 1439 it was reported that the Gothic parish church was in disrepair. In the course of the Eighty Years War it was finally devastated between 1572 and 1574 and not restored. In 1575 the church was demolished except for the tower. The place itself has never recovered from the consequences of the war in terms of population. After 1843 the tower ruins were torn down and the surrounding cemetery was no longer used.
