Sir Albert Douglas

Sir Albert Douglas , real name Albert Douglas "Dougie" Meakin , (born March 17, 1945 in Liverpool ) is a British musician. He is a school friend of Ringo Starr . From 1966 to 1970 he was a member of the beat band The Motowns , which released two albums and ten singles during this time. The Motowns, like the Beatles, represented the Mersey Beat . The Motowns went on tour to Italy and stayed there. Sir Albert Douglas became a well-known studio musician and worked a. a. with Ennio Morricone . He wrote several songs for television and film under his name Douglas Meakin . He is not to be confused with (The) Sir Douglas (quintet / band) or Doug Sahm .

  • In 1979 Douglas Meakin realized the song Tarzan Tarzan for Elisabetta Viviani together with Mike Fraser and Aldo Tamborelli . The result was the band Superobots , a kind of “catch group” for the production of numerous pieces by and for RCA musicians.
  • 1980 Meakin founded the band Rocking Horse together with Mike Fraser. He is the founder or member of the following bands: Crazy Gang, Easy Going, Superband, Tortuga, Traks

Trivia

On the 1976 album 10 succéss to Chuck Berry there are only nine tracks by Chuck Berry , the tenth track Blue Suede Shoes was written by Carl Perkins (based on a story by Johnny Cash , experienced during his stationing in Landsberg am Lech ) and never by Chuck Berry recorded.

The “Sir” in his name is not to be understood as a British title of nobility ( Knight or Baronet ), but as an artist name .
