Sirius 3 is a television satellite from the Swedish operator SES Sirius (formerly NSAB). The satellite was launched into geostationary orbit on October 5, 1998 by an Ariane 44L .
Sirius 3 replaced the BSS satellite Tele-X , which was decommissioned on January 16, 1998, in orbital position 5 ° . In January 2008 Sirius 3 was replaced by Sirius 4 in the same position. It now serves as a back-up for Sirius 4.
