Sister (English for "sister") is an English-language pop song with which the duo S! Sters represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv . The piece took penultimate place.

The song was originally written by Laurell Barker , Tom Oehler, Marine Kaltenbacher's and Thomas Steengard's team of authors for the Swiss preliminary decision, but no suitable interpreters could be found. After six artists had already been selected for the German preliminary decision , the Sister contribution was subsequently submitted.

At the Eurovision Song Contest

In the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, Sister was assigned start number 4. In the subsequent scoring, the song received no points from the telephone vote and 24 points from the juries. This resulted in the penultimate of 26 places.

The song is about women who make life difficult for one another. Sister is a duet , the verses are sung alternately and the chorus together. The musical box-like instrumentation before and after the chorus is striking .

reception

Anja Rützel from Spiegel Online describes the song as "drawing board occasion work". Tonspion is of the opinion that it was a terrifyingly weak song in a terrifyingly weak preliminary decision.
