Sivert Haugen Bjørnstad (born October 3, 1990 in Trondheim ) is a Norwegian politician of the right-wing Fremskrittspartiet (FrP). He has been a member of parliament in Storting since 2013 .

Life

Bjørnstad headed the youth organization Fremskrittspartiets Ungdom (FpU) in what was then the province of Sør-Trøndelag from 2008 to 2010 . After graduating from secondary school, he worked as a substitute teacher before completing a bachelor's degree in economics and administration at Handelshøyskolen BI in 2011 . Bjørnstad was a member of Trondheim City Council from 2011 to 2019, and from 2011 to 2013 he was also a member of the Fylkesting of Sør-Trøndelag.

Bjørnstad moved into the Norwegian national parliament in Storting for the first time in the 2013 general election . At the age of 23 he was the youngest of the MPs. He represents the constituency of Sør-Trøndelag in parliament and became a member of the Committee on Church, Education and Research. In January 2016 he moved to the Economic Committee, after the 2017 election he moved to the Finance Committee, where he held the post of Deputy Chairman from January 2019 to February 2020. In January 2020 he became a member of the parliamentary committee of the FrP.
