Sjaak Alberts
Jacques Anton "Sjaak" Alberts (born February 27, 1926 in Arnhem , † July 8, 1997 ) was a Dutch football player .
The left-back made his debut for Vitesse Arnhem's first team at the age of 16 . From 1947 he played in the B national team and was already part of the Dutch national team in 1948 , including at the Olympic Games in London. However, he remained a substitute player without being used. It wasn't until 1952 that he came five times for the senior national team . He benefited from the fact that regular Henk Schijvenaar broke his leg. He made his debut in Antwerp on April 6, 1952 against Belgium . Among other things, he also played in the qualifying round match of the 1952 Olympic Games in Turku against Brazil , which the Netherlands lost 5-1. Although his career would have allowed him a move to professional football - so the Wolverhampton Wanderers were interested in a commitment Albert '- he preferred his learned profession and ended his career at the age of 27.
