Skövde HF

Skövde HF (Skövde Handbollsflickor, German: handball girl Skövde) is a Swedish handball club from Skövde . The club plays its home games in the Arena Skövde .

history

The club was founded in 1949 by Herman Somby. The club also offered football for women.

1950/51 was the first season in indoor handball. In 1956/57 the club played in Division 2, and was promoted to Allsvenskan in 1962/63. After finishing second in the 1988/89 season, qualification for the top Swedish division, the Elitserien , was missed. In the 1990/91 season, the team lost the playoff against Spårvägen. Also in 1991/92 they lost in the playoff. After the second place in the Allsvenskan in the 1995/96 season, the promotion to the Elitserien succeeded, in which they finished 7th in the first season. After the 1999/2000 season, the team rose, but rose again in the following season.

In the 2004/05 season, the team lost the final of the Swedish championship against Skuru IK in front of 12,000 spectators in the Stockholm Globen with 23:24 (10:13). In 2005/06 the team won the series and lost the final in front of 10,132 spectators in Gothenburg's Scandinavium against IK Sävehof with 21:22 after extra time. Also in the 2006/07 season the team was in the final of the Swedish championship, again losing to IK Sävehof in Globen: 10,112 spectators saw a 27:29 (14:12) after extra time. Only in the 2007/08 season did the team from Skövde win the championship. Before 11,456 in Scandinavium they won against IK Sävehof with 31:24 (13:11).
